The ENI complex creates a landmark and focal point in San Donato Milanese through three distinct buildings that embody the formation of the geological world and the elegant composition of the Earth. This is especially evident in the visual effect of the stratified exterior and the layered forms of the buildings which emerge from the site around a multi-level piazza. In reverence of the richness of life on Earth, the elevations of the buildings are organized in strata, evoking the layers of the Earth that have built up over millions of years. The buildings thus evoke the spatial, tectonic conditions in which diverse biological matter was sealed and incubated, ultimately producing the abundant energy reserves that fuel life.
